If one wanted to get into the AC series, is there a specific order to play?
I'm one of the few that lives the cookie cutter Ubisoft games, so I suspect AC is right up my alley.
If you don't care about the lore of the "current day AC storyline" it has, then whatever time period you would like to play in. This one is pretty good as far as mechanics and "actions have consequences", but I haven't been in the loop of the series for a while to compare them.

Origins then odyssey. They aren't the traditional AC style games but they're more entertaining in my opinion. If you play the original AC games then origins and odyssey you may end up being disappointed if you prefer one game style over the other.
Edit: odyssey was one of the most polarizing AC games where you either loved it more than the rest or you hated it. I personally enjoyed it more than all others since being stealthy for hours upon hours of gameplay gets real tiring. Odyssey gives you the option to do either.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is definitely the standout among AC games for me since the beginning. While I've got a soft spot for the Ezio collection, Odyssey's side quests really seal the deal. If you're into captivating mythological stories, this game is a must-try! It's one of the few games I've managed to snag a platinum award for, and I don't regret investing the time.

i started AC series from odyssey. now i play Valhalla which i don't find entertaining as odyssey. from what original AC players i hear is that new AC games including odyssey are different than the original ones. i do not enjoy stealth heavy games anyway so odyssey did not disappoint me. with that being said, dont bother playing valhalla.

Lot of good answers I got which is awesome. This may be these best for me cuz I'm in same boat. Stealthy games just don't do it for me anymore. So I'll probably stick with odysseys like you mentioned. Thanks again!

This was my first AC game and played it a lot through pandemic, really enjoyed it, it was a nice escape. I have it on PC but I'll get this for PS5 just cuz I liked it so much.
I've played nearly every single AC they ever released and this is probably my favorite. Valhalla and Origin were pretty good but this comes out on top IMO.

Just go in order starting with AC2. That way you get to experience the upgrades each time you start the new one. AC was peak at Black Flag.
