95% cotton gives pretty much all of the benefits of cotton (natural feel, not stinky if sweating), and the addition of some spandex makes them soft and stretchy in a way that makes the shirt feel less like it's there.
I like the durability I get from Gildan shirts, but I've seen many people with sensitive skin say they find them scratchy. These are noticeably softer feeling than Ultracottons or Heavyweights. If you have a Michael's nearby, they occasionally discount the 100% cotton shirts down to about $2 a piece. I bought about 10 different colors last time they had it.

Is 100 percent cotton better?
Not in my opinion. 100% is inferior for me.

If you have a Michael's store near you these are also frequently available for same price. Use some caution as they have different materials often. Well worth. Checking
Cheap shirts for Tie dye. If you got a Marshall's or TJ Maxx they got much better brands for about the same price. Problem I have with Gildan is they're so poorly made. Gildan is the only brand I've ever worn where after a couple washes the actual stitching came out of the arm pits.
