Product Name: | Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF |
Product Description: | A favored wide-angle prime, the Canon EF-mount Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is a versatile lens with a classic broad field of view that suits everything from street shooting to landscape photography. Impressively bright, the fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is ideal for working in low-light conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. An advanced optical design is employed, which uses both low dispersion glass and aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for greater clarity and sharpness. A Super Multi-Layer Coating is also featured, and suppresses ghosting and flare for improved contrast and color accuracy. |

Sigma makes some great lenses and wish they got this with the RF mount.
If anyone has experience with this lens would love to hear.

DC means APS-C;
DN means for Mirrorless system.
I think $400 should be decent price for this lens because of its old design, and its bulky size and heavy weight.

insane deal on an incredible lens, it is a heavier older DSLR design but the optics are world class, second only to the Sigma 40mm f/1.4. one of the best wide angle lenses ever made.
I use the EF version no problem with the adapter on the RF system. Even better AF than with the DSLRs
repped the OP
Unfortunately I've used Sigma lenses for so long might be longer than your photographic age. You may have problems to get the points of other's opinion.

I'm using them in the EF mount, both on fullframe DSLR bodies and adapter onto Canon R-Series cameras, and the sharpness is right up there or better than most Canon L-Series lenses at 2-3x the price.
The one downside with them, is if you use them on a DSLR at wide apertures (1.4). The Sigma line has always been known to have front- or back-focusing issues at various distances. It might work fine at 1 foot, but backfocus a bit at 10 feet, for example. You can somewhat fix this (with a lot of work/effort) using the USB Dock (or sometimes in camera), but that's a mess of a process to do.
If you use a mirrorless camera or liveview on a DSLR, you won't have any issues.
One other note - Sigma has so many different lenses in the Art line that are sometimes in such close focal lengths.. 14-24mm, 14mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, 135mm.. my suggestion would be to find the one(s) that fit your style the most. 28mm is a nice focal length as you don't have as much distortion as a 20mm/24mm, and it's a bit wider than 35mm.
With all that said, I have about half a dozen of them: 14-24mm, 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, and they're all fantastic. I shoot them at f/1.4 whenever it allows for it, and images are very sharp, detailed and have nice color reproduction and clarity

Sigma has many great lenses a nice lineup of interesting ones. Yes i know i can use an EF Adapter for it buts its annoying as it is and have other EF lens's i use to RF.
Something nice about sigma is if not mistaken a rep from sigma was telling me that they can swap the mount for you so lets say they one day make it in RF you can get it swapped.

It's also easier to point the smaller lens at people if doing street or journalistic photography vs this behemoth.

This is an awesome lens, big and heavy (but not even close to the 40mm) and built like a tank. Probably the sharpest f1.4 lens I've ever own
