If I recall correctly (pun intended), it was because the magnets they used to seal the cooler were exposed at the bottom and some of the magnets had the potential to come off and fall into the cooler. Version 2.0 seems to have covered/sealed those magnets so that they can't fall out.
Anyone use this? Is it worth an upgrade from a cheap $50 backpack cooler??
I got this to replace my older otterbox trooper 20 which is great, but you have to carry it on one shoulder and its way too heavy when full. So far I used the Yeti M20 three times to go to the beach and its been great! My otterbox has a more traditional cooler shape and lid, so its more convenient when loading the cooler and grabbing drinks. However, this back pack is not bad either and the magnetic closure tends to shut itself which is good to keep the cooler closed and avoid melting the ice. Ice retention is great IMO. I usually take 6-8 beers, 3-4 water bottles and fill with about 4lbs of ice. I never empty and clean the cooler when I get back from the beach (too tired), and all three times there was still solid ice the next day around noon when cleaning out the cooler.
