Highly efficient window AC units that cool really well. $239 for the 8000 BTU, $279 for the 12000 BTU. The inverter technology allows for these to ramp down to 2000 BTU cooling making them very energy efficient. I have two of the 14000 BTU units that cool my 1200 sqft home in Florida.

It is built into the app but yes I do have an separate energy monitor plug. The 2000 BTU Is just what I read. The units average 300-600 watts set to 72 at low lately. Closer to 600-800w during the summer.
Stop the silliness.

Do you think a window unit that is south facing in direct sunlight is 2x more efficient than a portable that's in the room with dual hose?

Reason I ask is because I have a window unit and it doesn't run that well when it's extremely hot outside and I found a very good deal for a used dual hose.

*out of stock for me on the 12k unit*
I can't speak to this specifc model, but the complaints about efficiency on portable units apply to portable units with a single hose. The dual hose units operate a lot more like a window unit (but still slightly less efficient due to losses in the hose). So it really comes down to how efficient the 2 models are.

I agree with you, know of any good units with heat?
Midea, Costco had it for $280 two years ago. Hopefully it'll come back.

Appreciate the feedback, it clears a lot up for me. I already have a window unit but it's not an inverter and older model. It works just okay and I recently purchased the used dual hose portable from Craigslist but it also is not an inverter machine so I'll have to just see how much electricity each draw and how often they are on to keep a constant temperature. Thanks again!

This is the best wall unit AC I've ever own. I have owned several other brands, and this is by far the quietest and best performing one. It's legitimately almost as quiet as a mini-split ductless system.

Got the 12k for $299 after tax and free delivery. on the fedex truck for today. I have the midea U shaped, but the install is a nightmare and cannot get a good air seal. I'd rather go with a traditional shape like this, since the whole "open and close your window" with an AC installed is mostly a gimmick. Also, the midea has their weird algorithm and it never ran at more than 50% capacity even on the hotest day with the temp set to lowest. Based on the KW being used, my 12k midea never put out more than 6-7k btu
