Funny thing about high school memories. This was still extremely popular on the alternative rock radio (remember that folks?) station and I'd hear it all the time in high school but 20+ years after it was released. I also have memories of high school with Blister In The Sun but probably in a different era.
Crazy that a whole genre of music got erased in the matter of 10 years or so. Feels very disconnecting
You can all just kiss off into the air
Behind my back, I can see them stare
They'll hurt me bad, but I won't mind
They'll hurt me bad, they do it all the time (yeah, yeah)
Great album, but how is $21 for one record a slick deal?
Agreed. This is a must-have album IMO but something south of $20 is the minimum for the deal to be slick. And yes, I know it hasn't been cheaper than $20 in over 5 years.
Saw them live at Red Rocks a few years ago. Gordon Gano's still got it, but it's a bit weird hearing him sing about masturbation as a 50-ish year old.
My favorite John Prine album, Common Sense, is almost entirely made up of songs about masturbation and his wiener in general. Although, Prine does it in a much more playful (no pun intended) manner.
Anyway, this album is timeless. It could have been released in 90s/00s/10s as well as this decade and still be relevant and fantastic.
