Not as great as Black Friday price where it was $199.99. But for anyone wanting this now, this is a good deal. Can be shucked.

This is correct, although it still beats Amazon when it comes to price-matching: No price matching, even if the price drops before your order is delivered, so I appreciate them still having a price match policy and being easy about it (I bought this drive 2 weeks ago, just jumped on chat and they refunded $35!)

They do have Best Buy Plus ($50/year) which will get you a 60-day returns/price match window, and free 2 day shipping. Not a great deal unless you buy/return a lot from them.

One other note about bestbuy price matches: They only match once. If you buy an item today and it drops $50 next week, they'll match it. If it drops another $50 the day after, they won't adjust the price again.

With all that said, I have about 10 of these 14/16/18/20TB EasyStore's and haven't had any issues with them. Great for the price and highly recommended at this deal.
Yep, it was after Black Friday I think. It will go to $200 again. $250 is too high.
There was one without being a member, i picked one up

My rule of thumb is $10 per TB max
so you only buy used or smr drives? lmao [nothing wrong with used drives.. i use them myself but I don't expect new drives to be $10 per TB lmfao]

do they try to get the drive working again when you send it in?
do they get to see all the linux distros you were storing on it if they get it working again?

Don't think they tested it. The drive had a SMART error but still ran fine, they just sent me a new drive. And no... I zero out the drive before sending it in 👍

With amazon, you simply re-order the item that got cheaper, setup the return for original item and return the second one back.. Also, sometimes I just contact the seller and ask for a credit.
the issue with this is amazon keeps a record of how much you return. do it too much, they'll simply ban your account. happened to my friend.

It's more complicated than that, with amazon you return a lot of things but also spend a lot money purchasing and they won't care and still will treat you well. In my case I dropped amazon prime loooong time ago so I never expect anything but the bare minimum from their reps overseas. If some news outlet made a serious investigation about Amazon's CS I'm sure they would find out their customer service and policies varies from one account to another, which I'm sure is not quite legal but at the same I'm sure Amazon wouldn't mind the class auction that much, still worth the savings

Are you forgetting that all these devices (as well as most electronics these days) come with a serial number?

What software do you use to format them so you get the full capacity? I tried using HP and it said it was write protected. Windows lets u only see about 16 tb

What are your predictions on when the $200 for an 18TB drive come? Black Friday?
Should be earlier than this year's Black Friday. It seems that every year, the price of the next 2 TB higher HDD goes on sale for $200. I bought a 14 TB back in 2021. 2023 BF was for 18 TB. I'm guessing this year's BF deal would be for 20 TB.

The drive inside is a WD180EDGZ-11BLDS0, 7200 rpm, unknown cache/buffer. There's no guarantee that they all have that model drive inside though.

In this day and age, I'm not going to bother unless it's under $200. Shuck it.
