It's very fluffy compared to almost any other filler- not dense at all, and it's slightly gritty in texture. Don't overwork it. Bevel the holes w the butt of your putty knife and then skim.
I redistribute these containers into 2oz sample jars (pee cups) and keep one in every tool bag. Those have a much better seal and so I actually get to use all the product before it dries up.

I bought a small carton of plaster of Paris powder that I've had literally for decades. (I'm old)
Just add water and Viola! Mix up just enough for whatever hole filling/small patch jobs I have.

I have the same problem. That's why I want to only commit to a small cheap package. Whenever I bought larger cans, they always dry out with more than a half left haha I will look into what you described.

Good tips, but I add water, then scrape sides, stir and it's workable again…
Add water, scrape sides, then stir if dry…
Also: $3 is a steal.
I use a moist paper towel or small damp cloth and place on top of paste, no gaps and seal up container will slow drying up. My dad taught me this year's ago.
